Evacuated in 1939, she finished her education at grammar school. British leading lady Sylvia Syms trained for her craft at RADA where she received The Gerald Lawrence Scholarship and an HM Tenants Award. Her first major film role came in 'My Teenage Daughter' in 1956 and she has graced our stage and screen ever since, receiving nominations for 'Best Actress' both home and abroad and a British Film Academy nomination for The Tamarind Seed. The shows involving words and music go back to 1984 and have toured all over the UK and even ventured into Europe. TV shows for 2006 alone include Judge John Deed, The Poseidon Adventure (Hallmark/Sky One) and a not yet seen rôle as The Queen Mother with Helen Mirren as Queen Elizabeth The Second.
