This is a song I wrote before the creation of Almaraya. I taught Lynieve to sing it in Spanish, done beautifully, and here it is recorded with just double bass (Dave Markee) and guitar. This was our first Spanish collaboration along with ‘Loco Por Ti’.
This song is based on memories of childhood inspired by the Flamenco style Colombianas. Lynieve began the first verse and we finished the whole song together.
I wrote the first part of this song disturbed by an item of
news on Radio 4 announcing a ban on music in the Northern Territories of Pakistan and a wedding singer in interview saying this had cost him his living. Lynieve and I wrote part two as a Flamenco Bulerias.
We have now written eight songs together and I am more than happy with every single one of them. We have more in the pipeline and ideas for - who knows how many. If you would like to share
this process with us click on the link at the top of the page and you can listen
to demos and share our lyrics as they are created - translated where necessary. If you want to talk to us send an e-mail to simon&lynieve@designer-music.co.uk .
Flamenco is the soul of Almaraya, especially flamenco guitar. Here is a link to my solo album ‘Azahar’ inspired by my view of flamenco and Spanish classical guitar. There are some extracts to listen to and more information about the album.
